Crosthwaite Primary School in the Lake District asked Setter Play to redevelop all of their play areas, with a variety of upgrades providing their pupils with exciting new spaces to play.
Our proposals included Itsy Bitsy Bear, the expansive climbing frame that combines free-form exploration with a traditional tower, to maximise play value and provide something for everybody to enjoy.
We also designed a large water play zone in line with the school’s brief, with a giant water wall, splash basins, and freestanding chutes to direct the water towards the river bed.
Moving around their grounds, we also removed and disposed of their previous adventure trail, before creating an exciting parallel design that invites their pupils to compete against each other during lessons and breaktimes.
The design features a variety of challenges for balance and co-ordination, as well as fine- and gross-motor skills, to aid Crosthwaite’s pupils’ healthy development through play.
We were very proud to deliver such an expansive project in such a beautiful part of the country, and we hope Crosthwaite’s pupils enjoy their new play areas!
